about
Waiters & Bellboys is Jóhann Kristinsson's solo project. He has released 2 albums so far. One LP and one EP. He used to just release under his real name but recently he started to use another name for his music. He really doesn't recommend his old albums today but he used to like the music enough to release these albums back then. The first one is called ''Jóhann Kristinsson - Call Jimmy'' and the second one is called ''Jóhann Kristinsson - Tropical Sunday (EP)''. There is a soundtrack he did with Þórður Hermannsson for the short-film, Hux. That film was shown at the Cannes festival in France, 2008.
His next album will be released in Iceland before 2012 and it will probably be self titled. ''Waiters & Bellboys - Waiters & Bellboys''.
The music might be best described as some kind of Indie-folk-pop-rock.
Last year he played a solo set at the mighty SPOT festival in Århus, Denmark.
He gets inspired by a lot of things. Some of them are too corny to even think about. This is some music he likes : Elliott Smith, Lou Barlow, Bill Callahan, The Shins, Bright Eyes, Broken Social Scene, Why?, Dinosaur Jr., Feist, The Flaming Lips, Joanna Newsom, Khonnor, Patrick Watson, Pavement, Radiohead, Sonic Youth, Enkidu, Blur....
Classical music also inspires him. Compsers like Berlioz, Schubert, Schumann, Mozart, Rachmaninov, Beethoven, Wagner, Liszt and many others.
